The Boston godfathers of hardcore hit London for an intimate, chaotic, but crowd-pleasing show as a stop on their European tour. Midnight Mixtape sat down beforehand to interview Bane frontman Aaron Bedard.

Ask a hardcore musician what bands have influenced them, and a name that will repeatedly, undoubtedly come up is Bane. The Boston five-piece have been around for almost two decades, touring extensively and releasing a string of EPs, 7inches and highly acclaimed full lengths ‘It All Comes Down To This’ (1999), ‘Give Blood’ (2001) and ‘The Note’ (2005). We sat down with frontman Aaron Bedard before their headline show at The Relentless Garage to chat about touring, dropping the straight-edge label, and what the future holds for the band. We Are The Ocean stormed into the Somerset town in typical fashion, with a full volume, high energy show to a packed out audience. The five piece opened the show with new single “Lucky Ones” which is a catchy tune, and suitably used for an opener as it requires a lot of audience participation during the chorus.

From the get-go, Dan Brown was bouncing all over the small stage, and at times joining in the mosh pits with the hundreds of adoring fans, by the end of the show, the singer was drenched from head to toe in sweat, the sign of a good gig!
The crowd were out in full force for We Are The Ocean, having been suitably warmed up by support acts Chickenhawk and Proceed, both of which seem like they will soon be hitting the big time on their own, they were that good. After only short delays for gear changes, We Are The Ocean played an hour’s set, including hits such as “Don’t Be Careless” “Playing My Heart” and “(I’ll Grab You By The) Neck Of The Woods”, all of which sounded spot-on.
