Cast your eye (or ear!) around the alternative music scene right now and what do you find? A lot of bands vying for your attention using whatever means possible to get it. For most this means teaming a pair of ultra skinny jeans with an obscure band shirt, adding the neon Nikes, a trucker cap at a jaunty angle (obviously) and any of the following: [delete as appropriate] lip ring(s)/extreme fringe/neck and chest tattoo. But this isn’t the case for Welsh quartet Attack! Attack! They’re trying to get your attention the old fashioned way; by writing a killer album and hoping that the music alone is still enough to win them fans. Read more here!

Many a hip, alternative-young-adult type would readily deny ever owning a copy the 26th best-selling album of all time, but the success and vast appeal of Linkin Park’s debut Hybrid Theory was no doubt rooted in its’ not particularly big or clever – but certainly infectious and accessible – song craft. A decade and two full lengths later – in addition to no particular sharp steers away from the accepted formula – enter A Thousand Suns; the bands’ first (whisper it!) concept album which deals with themes of nuclear warfare.
